Intradermal Spitz naevus; ‘degenerative’ nuclear changes
The architectural and cellular features are indicative of Spitz naevus, but the presence of abnormal, large, hyperchromatic nuclei with pseudovacuoles (due to cytoplasmic invagination) and folded and wrinkled forms, is striking.
In the absence of mitotic activity and in view of the other findings, this change is thought to represent some - poorly defined - 'degenerative change' rather than an indicator of malignancy.
