Case 26 Female, 17 years. Excision of papule, skin of lower armShow diagnosis & comments
Spitz tumour of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP).
The deep pushing somewhat nodular component is, at this age, a suspicious finding. The nuclear features are atypical. Other architectural features are rather regular. Although there is concrete suspicion of malignancy, in aggregate the findings were considered to fall short of what is required for that diagnosis, and a verdict of STUMP (Spitz tumour of uncertain malignant potential) was rendered.
The lesion recurred localy after 9 months, which does however not provide an argument for malignancy, since Spitz naevi may recur locally as well.
