Naevus with central spindle cells
VARIOUS CELL TYPES IN COMMON ACQUIRED NAEVI
The dermal component of naevi often shows some variation in cell type. Most commonly, cells in the upper demis are the largest, and are more or less rounded and most commonl;y contain some discernible pigment; deeper cells tend to be smaller and more lymphocyte-like, and not uncomonly there are some neuroid, spindle cells in the deepest parts. However, variations on this common theme do occur with some regularity, and include the presence of spindled naevus cells in superifical parts.
The combination of clle types of common acquired naevus on the one hand and blue naevus on the other, will be considered in the slide set 'Blue naevus and variants'
