Case 35 Female, 19 years. ‘Clinically atypical’ pigmented lesion skin of shoulderShow diagnosis & comments
Combined naevus with tiny, superficial deep penetrating naevus-component
Deep penetrating naevi are not always deep penetrating. The enlarged and slightly pigmented cell type, the nuclear enlargement (and often some pleomorphism), the arrangement in small nests that do not disturb the preexistent skin to any significant extent, and the presence of none or a few mitotic figures (which may occur at all levels of the lesion) are the key findings.
